The view out my new back door. now you all know what I meant when I said "I miss the big sky of the prairies".
Well Friends,
After 8 amazing years, dozens of of great weddings and time spent with hundreds of wonderful friends, colleagues and clients, it is time for me to say good bye to Ontario and journey West, closer to my home roots. My family and I are moving to Saskatoon where I will continue to run Heather Fritz Photography on a more national platform, travelling back and forth to Ontario, out to the West Coast, into Alberta and throughout Saskatoon. (also in development with some of our nation's best new talent: a series of workshops destined to send your enthusiasm for portraiture sky-high!!)
While I have been capturing portraits all my life, it was in Ontario that I began my full time career in the wedding industry. I will be forever grateful for the experiences afforded to me out here. I could rattle on for hours about the amazing memories I have but to keep you interested, I'll share just a few moments that have defined the type of photographer and business person that I am today.
-the day that I met Emma Smallbone, renowned wedding photographer and owner of "Barebone Photo" who lives by the creedo that she taught me... "do your own thing" and the rest will fall into place. Thank you Emma for your guidance and friendship
-the wedding of Dave and Daniella Kuhner. Thank you for taking a chance on me so long ago and continuing to use my services and refer me to your friends after all these years.
-the autumn day that Sarah and I lamented on the way to a wedding that we were soooo tired of the same style of wedding that year...that day our bride walked down the aisle to ACDC's "She's got Balls" in a dress ruched up with a Star Trek pin.
-the week I got to spend in New Orleans with Habitat for Humanity, recording the wreckage of Hurricane Katrina, only 100 days after the initial devastation
-my first "Smiling Eyes" photoshoot where I watched the bravery of a woman my age unfold as she smiled for her family the day before she underwent her second round of debilitating chemotherapy
-the day I met Megan Follows, renowned Canadian actor and gabbed cameras and photography with her until I realized I was actually at work and should have been shooting instead of talking shop
-the day I watched Michael and Dustin's family celebrate their vows at the Royal Botanical gardens. One of the most elegant weddings I have ever attended.
-my last Ontario "Smiling Eyes" photoshoot. Benjamin, I will forever cherish our conversations together.
-Jenn Jenn and Sarah....thank you for being you. The days I met each of you not only helped enhance my career in someway but added freindship in ways I could never imagine.
So with new babies, old men, first marriages, 50 year anniversaries, destination weddings and disasters, I learned grew and became the photogrpaher and person I am today.
Thank you Ontario for it all.
Heather
