Fine Art on Friday

Yes, I should be editing instead of blogging. In fact if I'm blogging, I should be blogging one of 30-some clients who have featured photo shoots but this week I've had so many questions about my fine art pieces that I thought I'd take a minute while my computer was uploading wedding images to fill you in.

There is a full gallery of fine art pieces on my website here. Almost all of them can be specially printed for you (some have been sold exclusively to one client with the promise not to reproduce). If you see something you'd like, drop us a line of give us a shout. There is a small collection available exclusively from Blended Jive Paint & Decor in Saskatoon and I have had work featured at the Willow Studio. I do private commissions well.

The following image is of a piece of mine that I stumbled upon while shooting a spread for Fine Lifestyles Magazine on Ron Baliski Realty Inc. While pulling a piece of lint from my eye in the main floor powder room of this gorgeous home built by Pure Developments I noticed this canvas over my shoulder in the mirror. Sometimes, because I sell lots of pieces through galleries, I have no idea where they end up. It was kind of cool to see that this one had found a great home!

Jacobson Family

If you ever want to know what the hottest day of the year is going to be in Saskatoon, just ask me what day the Jacobson family has their family photos scheduled (here is last year's heatwave). This year we chose a very unique location. I thought McNab Park, in it's colourful urban decay would create a cool juxtaposition with Jordana and Perry's refined style. Throw in a little girl's tea party and you've a got a shoot like no other. The little girls, Ryan and Layla's sense of style is no accident. They went shopping with mom at Jordana's new kid's shop, Craving's Kids lifestyle boutique! Watch for Jordana's partner, Rebecca and her family's photos in a few weeks and you'll see what all the cool little boys are wearing too!

Mike & Tyra~Engaged!

Mike and Tyra are getting married down south this winter. Just them and the big ocean and miles of beautiful sand! Tyra warned me, REALLY warned me ahead of time that Mike hates having his photo taken...hates it!9he even apologized) So, I was prepared... BUT, I wasn't prepared for how easy it actually turned out to be! (He ended up being a great subject, they both did!)

Baillie, the Gorgeous Grad

The Janex family really knows how to enjoy their photo shoots! Remember big sister Brianne from last year? (well, I remember her because she was my assistant for a full year before she became enamored with building my last website and desired to leave me for the brights light of web design school, 2 weeks ago. Sigh, I really do wish her the best). So anyway, younger sister Baillee graduated this year and we culminated her shoot with another rockin- good-time-family photo shoot!

Lucky Number Thirteen

Thirteen years ago, he made me a Fritz....then he made me a mother (twice). All along he's made me laugh. Heather and Rob, it's a really good thing.

Happy Anniversary, Babe.

Danika Lorèn & Mark Turner (nationally acclaimed artists)

I cried when I first heard soprano, Danika Lorèn sing and pianist, Mark Turner play. It was a little embarrassing because I was in a room full of professionals, Opera supporters and generally cultured people. (but not so embarrassing that I won't begin this blog post with the fact). I have photographed Danika and Mark through various Saskatoon Opera related events and by the time we met to do this photoshoot0 to promote their concert it was a curious thing to capture their unyielding talents mixed with their BIG BIG personalities. Congratulations to them both. Danika (accompanied by Mark) won Nations (voice) and continues to bring audiences to their feet (and to tears) as she performs and pursues her studies in Toronto. Mark is home-based and teaches out of Saskatoon.
